A Trip Down Memory Lane

Let me begin by saying I am not a professional Reporter, or even an English proficient writer. I have always said, when asked how many languages I speak, that I don't speak any languages, but I do slaughter the English language. So, to those of you who will be driven crazy, due to my poor grammar skills' I ask you to forgive me as I now proceed to slaughter the English Language.
As we approach the July 4th all-class reunion, it becomes a trip down memory lane. We remember our Youth and the great times we had in Hale Center, although those memories are now fleeting time. I got to wondering in all of this modern computer era, exactly how much was saved from the Hale Center History. I found that the Unger Library in Plainview had many copies of the Hale Center American, and surprisingly, what they had was online. I will post a link to that archive at the bottom of this article. But you really can't go very far down memory lane without remembering Tom and Jean Rambo and the Hale Center American. As Tom would have written in the Hale Center American, "An all-class reunion was carded for July 4th, 2025". He was one of the many original historians of Hale Center. I always enjoyed talking with Tom.
It is a good time to travel to the Unger Library web site and read Tom's recorded History of our Home Town. See the old Photos, Stories and all of the business ads the prices will blow you away Scott Paper towels for .22 cents a roll, or Noon buffet Holley's cafe for $1.00

Our Family moved to Hale Center in September of 1971. Years after the big Tornado but a town that still bore the scars from the event. The town in many ways already Losing businesses some due to the Tornado some due to farming modernization. Them new, fancy Tractors could plow more land in less time. I remember the Smile on Troy Brown's face when he was showing me His new enclosed John Deere Tractor with an 8 track and air conditioning. It truly was a beauty to behold in its Day. Small town America has changed over time as people left the small towns and moved to the big cities. I would like to add to that recorded history of Hale Center, so I am asking if you have any great stories that we may have never heard or in some of our cases forgotten due to age please send them to me I would love to post them with your permission.
